The school itself is an old monastery. Set off of one of the major thoroughfares in the city, it is easy to get to, but oddly enough void of traffic noise. The campus is wooded, providing plenty of shade. Welcome to the International School in Genoa!
Outside of my classroom are some offices (foreign language, the individual in charge of helping us with all of our paperwork to become a legal resident, the elementary principal) and student hooks. I made a bunting banner using all of the digital paper that I made this summer and hung it above the students' hooks.
The space is somewhat bare right now, but that won't last long. Soon my class will be here, and soon we will be making things together to hang on the walls. Together we will make authentic learning spaces that spark their imaginations and that they take ownership of.
